Project Management Simulations

Enhancing the Education Experience

Simulations supplement a student's coursework with hands-on tools that allows them to put their classroom training to practice. They help students improve their skills and reduce the potential for costly mistakes, while exposing them to a wide range of project scenarios they may encounter in the real world.

How It Works

Double Masters simulations are offered via the web and can be run whenever convenient for the student or instructor. For universities wishing to include Double Masters simulations in their project management curriculum, an instructor sponsors a session, which is associated with the simulation of their choice.

From there, the process is simple and straightforward:

  • Access credentials (Session ID and Access Code) are automatically generated for instructors when they first sponsor the session.
  • The instructor establishes time constraints for the simulation.
  • Students create a user account and register for the session using their instructor’s access credentials.
  • Students run the associated simulation within the time constraints set by the instructor.

Assessing Performance

Reports are provided that make it easy for instructors to track their students’ simulation run results.

Key information reported includes:

  • Mail and documents read
  • Schedule and budget data
  • Complete list of decisions made
  • Final Earned Value Management metrics

An instructor's guide explains these various reports and provides the rationale behind each decision presented to students during the simulation along with suggested answers. There is no grade provided by the simulation; it's left up to the instructor to assess student performance.
